Woo Sang-hyuk clears the bar in the men's high jump at the World Indoor Athletics Championships held in Glasgow, England on the 3rd.

Woo Sang-hyuk (28) finished the indoor competition season at the beginning of the year by winning two consecutive medals at the World Indoor Athletics Championships. He failed to achieve the expected second consecutive victory in the competition.

Woo Sang-hyuk won a bronze medal with 2m28 in the men's high jump at the World Indoor Athletics Championships held in Glasgow, England on the 3rd.

Woo Sang-hyuk, who recorded over 2m30 in all three indoor competitions last month, failed to surpass 2m30 for the first time this season. Woo Sang-hyuk, who became the first Korean athlete to win a gold medal at this competition two years ago by surpassing 2.34m, attempted to win the competition for the second time in a row, but failed.

Woo Sang-hyuk took a leap forward as a world-class jumper after winning this competition in 2022. At the World Outdoor Championships held that year, he surpassed 2m35 and placed second, the best performance in Korean track and field at the competition.

Woo Sang-hyuk, who was considered a strong candidate to win this competition, skipped the day's first jump height of 2m15 and exceeded 2m20 in the first period. However, he passed 2m24 in the third period and 2m28 in the second period, giving up the lead in the game to Hamish Kerr (28, New Zealand), who surpassed all heights up to 2m28 in the first period. America's Shelby McEwan (28) also surpassed 2m28 in the same second period as Sanghyuk Woo, but as there were no failures at previous heights, Sanghyuk Woo was the first to attempt 2m31 in third place overall. However, Woo Sang-hyuk finished the competition by failing at 2m31 three times in a row.

Kerr set his season's best by surpassing his 2m31 mark in the first period. Kerr, who failed to clear 2.34m in the first period, secured the win due to McEwan's elimination, and then cleared 2.36m, setting a new Oceania record and the highest record in men's high jump this season. After failing at 2m31 twice, McEwan raised the bar to 2m34, but was unable to clear it. McEwan's final record was 2m28, the same as Woo Sang-hyuk, but he took the silver medal because he had fewer failures.

New Zealand's Hamish Kerr won the World Indoor Athletics Championships on the 3rd by exceeding 2m36, the best and personal best record in the men's high jump this season.

Woo Sang-hyuk, who returns to Korea on the 5th, will train in Incheon for a week and then leave for Japan on the 11th to continue training until the 17th of next month. 19가이드03
